This would be cool… unfortunately YouTube seems to be most interested in pushing their shopping features, memberships, and other features that are used by far more people.

I’m in their channel partner program - which is pretty useless for an indie doc filmmaker. Their suggestions and monthly bootcamps are all geared towards people doing makeup tutorials and gaming videos. This month is all about how to tie your video ideas into the World Cup, or enter a chance to go to a preview screening of some movie.

From the YouTube perspective 100 videos that all get 10k views is the same as 1 video that gets 1 million… except those 100 talking head videos are more likely to have more similar videos to watch - keeping viewers on the platform more. They’re also more likely to inspire more people to create on the platform than a high quality film that took months to make.

…but to end on a more positive note, they seem pretty intent on gaining TV viewers (most of my views are on a TV) and this feature would fit right in there, and be a familiar feature to viewers over 40
